Joe Maddon: “Fortune Favors the Bald”
This attitude comes from their manager, their leader, Joe Maddon. Coach Maddon has been with the Tampa Bay Rays since 2006 and has been the life force of the culture of Tampa Bay baseball. In 2008 Joe Maddon lead Tampa Bay to its first 90+ win season, in fact it was the first time Tampa Bay had finished the season with more than 70 wins. Joe Maddon had lead them not only to the franchise’s first playoff appearance but in doing so the Tampa Bay Rays won the very strong American League East, besting both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. The Rays lead the AL in wins with 97 and finished above .500 for the first time in franchise history. Joe Maddon then took this team that had a payroll of that was less than half of the average Major League Baseball payroll all the way to the World Series. Maddon won MLB Manager of the Year that year.
This
past March Tampa Bay Rays Manager Joe Maddon lead his team to battle,
the battle to find a cure to childhood cancer by teaming up with the
Pediatric Cancer Foundation and their ut for a Cure campaign
This past March Joe Maddon and the Tampa Bay Rays teamed up with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation
to help raise money for research and treatment. Joe Maddon asked that
all of his players participate in shaving their heads for charity. They
did, all of them, and then the executive office did, and then to
everyone’s surprise principal owner Stuart Sternberg shaved his head.
They did this because they support their city but more than that it was
because Coach Maddon had asked them to.

Fortune Favors the Bald
Us here at the Quality Inn & Suites Tampa Fairgrounds certainly hope that is true.
